Issue Position: Jobs

Issue Position

Most of all we need to concentrate on creating good jobs in Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation was created to do just that. It has been a complete failure. We don't need to be first but 36th in job growth is unacceptable.

The state must use tax dollars as grants, loans, or credits to help businesses create the kinds of jobs that will help Wisconsin grow. Not one dime of tax payer money should go to any organization unless it will create new jobs, good jobs with good benefits that will support a family. We will not gain back the factory jobs that were lost over the past ten years. We need to be creative in how our tax dollars are used and focus on jobs in areas such as alternative energy. We need to help home-grown Wisconsin businesses to expand. We need to look for businesses that have potential for high growth and encourage them. We need to look at how neighboring states have succeeded where Wisconsin has not.
